A is for Almost Christmas

It's December and time for another new challenge at The ABC Challenge and this time we're getting ready for Christmas, not many sleeps or shopping days left. This challenge is sponsored by  Paper Shelter, who have some marvelous prizes for our challenge winner.

Here is the card I made with the delightful Christmas Candy Fairy digital stamp. I decided to make an ornament easel card since it is about time I started putting up the Christmas tree and trimming it with all those lovely ornaments I have collected.

I used some lovely sparkly glitter card for the ornament that I cutout using my CraftROBO. I then added some bling, ribbons and a smaller ornament , stamped and cut out of some silver glitter paper, and added some lovely SU embellishments.

Here is a look at the card from a slightly side on shot.

And here is a closeup of the lovely Christmas Candy Fairy. The image is printed with my inkjet printer on Copic Xpress  Card and coloured with Copic Sketch (and Ciao) Markers. Sunshine smiles...

Today's card features Moulin Rouge Tilda, from Magnolia's Once Upon A Time collection. I am a singer and musical theatre performer, and am really excited to be in preparation for a showcase this month. Performing always makes me smile, and so I decided to make my card using lovely sunshine yellow. So here she is:

I didn't have any yellow flowers so I made the large flower using my SU Blossom punch.

Here is a close look at Tilda:

Follow your heart...

Last weekend I went to see a local musical society's production of 42nd Street, one of my favourite old time musical movies. The show was great fun and the tap dancing numbers were amazing. Last night when I sat down to do some crafting, I pulled out Moulin Rouge Tilda, from Magnolia's Once Upon A Time collection. She reminded me of the chorus girls in 42nd Street, dancing and following their dreams to stardom.

To add some interest I made this a double card, the  frame tucks under the Oval greeting that is raised up using dimensionals - here is how it opens:

I saw this idea in a YouTube video: Stampin' Up! Flower Shop Double Card and thought it would be fun to try this technique.
Here is the inside:

My horse card for my first challenge

I was looking at some other blogs and found that this week Charisma Cardz was having a challenge all about Animals. This gave me the incentive to finish a card using my Magnolia stamps Tilda's Brunte and Tilda with Halter.

Years ago I used to compete in one day eventing on a beautiful big brown thoroughbred gelding. I have always loved horses, so when I saw this stamp, I just had to have it. Brunte has a cheeky look to his face, and I think he would be fun to ride...if he were real of course. I stamped Tilda first and masked her before stamping Brunte.

I didn't have a grass, tree or fence stamp, so I cut the shapes out using my CraftRobo cutter and then coloured in the card with Copic markers. I didn't blend too much as I wanted to give a textured appearance. Here is a closeup of the card, this time taken with a flash.

The images are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Copic Express Card and coloured with Copic Sketch (and Ciao) Markers. The Copics used are as follows: skin: E11, E00, E000, R20 hair: Y26, Y23, Y21 clothes: E50, E51, E53, B24, B26, B29, 100, C9, C7, C5, C3 halter: C2, C3, E59, E57, E55     horse: E59, E57, E55, E29, E51100, C9, C7, C5, C3, C2  grass: YG93, YG25, YG23 tree: E53, E55, C3 fence: E57, E59, E29.

Let the magic begin...

Welcome to my first blog post. My name is Carol and I started stamping when my little boy started school in 2000. He is now sitting for his HSC exams, which mark the end of 13 years of school for him.

For quite a while I have been admiring some of my talented friends work with cards and Copic markers. This year I decided to try out Copics. I heard that copics were addictive, and I now know I am hooked. Colouring an image and seeing it come to life is quite therapeutic. It has taken some time but as I have some holidays while my son does his HSC exams, I have finally got around to making some cards.

So here is my first card. I love this image from Magnolia stamps, Wizard Tilda. My daughter is into Harry Potter at the moment, which I find amusing since when my son and I used to read the books and watch the movies, she hated them.

My little wizard is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Copic Express Card and coloured with Copic Sketch Markers. The Copics used are as follows: skin: E11, E00, E000, R20 hair: E59, E57, E55, E53, E51 clothes: C7, C5, C3, C2, C0,Y26, Y23, Y21

And here is a closeup of my little wizard:

I designed the card layout around the word MAGIC and cut out the outline around the letters using my CraftRobo cutter. I was very impressed that this works with the new Silouhette Studio software, which is a big improvement on the RoboMaster software that came with my cutter.

Supplies:

Stamps: Magnolia wizard Tilda
Paper: Paper Adventures John Christopher limited edition Christmas Stars
Cardstock: SU Buckaroo Blue (retired) and  Bazill Daffodil
Accessories: Spellbinders Nestabilities Floral Ovals, Queen&Co Twinkle Blooms Lemon Drop Blossoms

Thanks for taking time to stop by, I hope you enjoyed my card.
Until next time, cheers, Carol
