ABC Challenge – B is for Buttons and Bows

2015 is off to a busy start for me and already it's time for a new challenge at ABC Challenges. Today our challenge is for the letter B and our theme is Buttons and Bows – to join in you need to include both in your creation. This challenge is sponsored by Pink Gem Designs and I chose to use this cute digi: Barclay with a flower.
I decided to make a party box for a change as my niece's daughter is turning 4 shortly and I wanted to try it out. I saw a pattern in the Silhouette store for a 3d top locking triple loop bow box by Jamie Cripps and thought I would give it a go. I had to adjust the pattern slightly to cut it out of A4 card using my trusty Craft Robo (which is the precursor to the Silhouette). I then added some paper bows to the sides of the box and added some buttons before adding my little Barclay.
Anyway here is my box:

And here is a look from another angle. You can see the paper ribbon I made by cutting a strip of patterned paper and punching along each side with an edge punch. I then cut another two strips and punched them then made them into a paper bow to dress up the sides:

And here is the other side:

I printed Barclay on Copic Xpress card and then coloured him in using my copics and the colours I used are: background: B0000, G0000, B60, Barclay: E40, E42, E43, E44, flowers, toadstools, butterfly and grass: BV000, BV04, Y0000, YR20, YR21, YR23, YR04, BG72, BG11, BG13, YG67, YG01, YG21, YG25, RV25, RV21, RV10, Y26, Y23, Y28, R81, R83, R85, B02.
Here is a closer look at Barclay and you can see how I added texture to his fur to make him look like a scruffy cuddly bear.

Here's one last look showing the bow on top which links to the bow on the other side and keeps the box closed.

Hope you liked my box, and that you check out the rest of the lovely images at Pink Gem Designs. We would love to see your creations with buttons and bows too, and there are some fabulous prizes for the lucky winner, so come join us at ABC Challenges before the end of the month.

Happy Stamping!!!
Carol

Let the magic begin...

Welcome to my first blog post. My name is Carol and I started stamping when my little boy started school in 2000. He is now sitting for his HSC exams, which mark the end of 13 years of school for him.

For quite a while I have been admiring some of my talented friends work with cards and Copic markers. This year I decided to try out Copics. I heard that copics were addictive, and I now know I am hooked. Colouring an image and seeing it come to life is quite therapeutic. It has taken some time but as I have some holidays while my son does his HSC exams, I have finally got around to making some cards.

So here is my first card. I love this image from Magnolia stamps, Wizard Tilda. My daughter is into Harry Potter at the moment, which I find amusing since when my son and I used to read the books and watch the movies, she hated them.

My little wizard is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Copic Express Card and coloured with Copic Sketch Markers. The Copics used are as follows: skin: E11, E00, E000, R20 hair: E59, E57, E55, E53, E51 clothes: C7, C5, C3, C2, C0,Y26, Y23, Y21

And here is a closeup of my little wizard:

I designed the card layout around the word MAGIC and cut out the outline around the letters using my CraftRobo cutter. I was very impressed that this works with the new Silouhette Studio software, which is a big improvement on the RoboMaster software that came with my cutter.

Supplies:

Stamps: Magnolia wizard Tilda
Paper: Paper Adventures John Christopher limited edition Christmas Stars
Cardstock: SU Buckaroo Blue (retired) and  Bazill Daffodil
Accessories: Spellbinders Nestabilities Floral Ovals, Queen&Co Twinkle Blooms Lemon Drop Blossoms

Thanks for taking time to stop by, I hope you enjoyed my card.
Until next time, cheers, Carol
