ABC Challenge – F is for Festive

Hip hip hooray it's time for another ABC Challenge and this time it is all about F is for Festive. Our sponsor for this challenge is Magnolia-licious, which means I get to use a beautiful Tilda image. So many delightful images to choose, and the one I decided on is from the latest Lovely Duo Collection 2015. Here is my card:

I made my card a little bit brighter this challenge!! Yesterday I was lucky enough to attend a Copics colouring course at my local stamp shop and the course was all about the No Lines technique and involved using the RV colours. I haven't used these colours a lot before, so it was fun to play with them. I can tell you it was a little bit daunting at first... Anyway for today's challenge inspiration, I decided to colour my delightful little Tilda using this technique and colours. I was quite happy with the end result and will be trying this again. Here is a close up look:

I stamped my image in Memento London Fog and coloured it with my Copics. The colours I used are skin: E0000, E11, E000, E00, R20, hair: E47, E44, E43, E42, E40, leaves: G40, G82, G85, ground: W00, W1, W3, W5, dress: Y00, Y21, Y23, Y26, RV0000, RV02, Rv04, RV06, RV09, RV19, rings: Y28, Y26, Y23.

If you haven't already stopped by ABC Challenges, please do and see what the rest of our fabulous DT have created. Then why don't you try our latest challenge for yourself, you could be lucky enough to win a prize from our sponsor.

Just for fun - Green and Black Secret Box

A while ago I found a lovely tutorial on Split Coast Stampers for a secret box. I loved the idea, but decided to re-size the box to make it taller so I could decorate it with some Tildas. This is how it turned out:

.

I stamped my Tildas using Memento Tuxedo Black ink on kryogen white card stock. I decided to colour the Tildas using the same colours, inspired by the background paper. Green is one of my favourite colours, but I have sometimes struggled when colouring with copics.

I am really happy with my images, and love the way the greens worked for me. The colours I used are skin: E0000, E11, E000, E00, R20 clothes:YG67, YG17, YG03, YG01, YG0000, YG23, G40, hair: E59, E57, E55, E53, E50, flowers and dots on dresses and bows: R24, yellow hat, shoes flower and flags: Y0000, YR20, Y23, Y26, Y29.

Here is the box opened up to reveal it's secrets:

Here is a close look at each of the lovely Tildas which are all from the Pink Lemonade collection:

For my card  I printed my image on Kryogen card stock and then coloured it with my copics. Then I cut around the image using Stampin' Up Oval framelits and mounted it on Nestabilities Floral Oval that I sponged with blushing bride and Sahara sand inks.

I used a Martha Stewarts around the page punch to create a border on my base card, and layered it with papers, lace and a pretty butterfly die cut from my stash.

I then added a bouquet of beautiful flowers, tied with a pink seam binding and added a charm.  Here is a closer look at this delightful Tilda from the new Pink Lemonade collection, Summer Buzz Tilda:

ABC Challenge: N is for Nautical

Ahoy there fellow stamping fanatics, today is the day for another fun challenge at ABC Challenges. Today our theme is N is for Nautical and we would like to see cards with a nautical  or ocean based theme. The sponsor of this challenge is Wild Orchid Crafts, and there is a $10 voucher up for grabs. They have so many gorgeous flowers available.

The idea I had for today's challenge was a little mermaid watching through the window to the sailors on the sea. I had some lovely paper with a map on it, and it fitted my idea perfectly. Here is my card:

For my card, I stamped Magnolia's Pearl Tilda using Momento ink on Copic Xpress white card stock. She is coloured with my copics. The colours I used are  skin: E0000, E11, E000, E00, R20 hair: E55, E53, E51, shells: R02, R01, tail: B95, B93, B91, seahorse YR27, YR24, YR23, YR21, YR20, Y23, Y21, Y17. I then fussy cut her out and added some touches of glitter and some pearls to add some detail.

I also stamped the sailboat on Copic Xpress card in Momento ink and masked it, before colouring the sea and the sky using my sponge daubers and SU Bermuda Bay, Not Quite Navy and Soft Sky inkpads. I then cut the window in the map so the boat showed through, using Labels 20 from Spellbinders.
The edges of the card I punched out using Martha Stewart Around The Page Border Punch. I also added some Wild Orchid Craft flowers and an SU sentiment.

Here is a close look at my little Tilda mermaid with her golden seahorse friend:

Let the magic begin...

Welcome to my first blog post. My name is Carol and I started stamping when my little boy started school in 2000. He is now sitting for his HSC exams, which mark the end of 13 years of school for him.

For quite a while I have been admiring some of my talented friends work with cards and Copic markers. This year I decided to try out Copics. I heard that copics were addictive, and I now know I am hooked. Colouring an image and seeing it come to life is quite therapeutic. It has taken some time but as I have some holidays while my son does his HSC exams, I have finally got around to making some cards.

So here is my first card. I love this image from Magnolia stamps, Wizard Tilda. My daughter is into Harry Potter at the moment, which I find amusing since when my son and I used to read the books and watch the movies, she hated them.

My little wizard is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Copic Express Card and coloured with Copic Sketch Markers. The Copics used are as follows: skin: E11, E00, E000, R20 hair: E59, E57, E55, E53, E51 clothes: C7, C5, C3, C2, C0,Y26, Y23, Y21

And here is a closeup of my little wizard:

I designed the card layout around the word MAGIC and cut out the outline around the letters using my CraftRobo cutter. I was very impressed that this works with the new Silouhette Studio software, which is a big improvement on the RoboMaster software that came with my cutter.

Supplies:

Stamps: Magnolia wizard Tilda
Paper: Paper Adventures John Christopher limited edition Christmas Stars
Cardstock: SU Buckaroo Blue (retired) and  Bazill Daffodil
Accessories: Spellbinders Nestabilities Floral Ovals, Queen&Co Twinkle Blooms Lemon Drop Blossoms

Thanks for taking time to stop by, I hope you enjoyed my card.
Until next time, cheers, Carol
