The Paper Shelter: The Best Day of my Life

Today I want to share a lovely basket I made using this beautiful digital image from The Paper Shelter. It's called The Best Day of my Life.

The basket was inspired by a tutorial a friend shared with me at a Stamp Camp I went to a few weeks ago. My image was a little wide to fit the standard pattern, so I adapted it to make the basket 13cm wide by 10cm high and 10cm deep. It is a great size for filling with treats or gifts for a special person. Here is a view of the side showing the strips I cut out of white card and punched the edges before adding a strip of patterned paper. The strips are 11cm long, which is why they bow out and add another dimension to the basket. I then added a pretty bow to finish off the handle.

Across the back I added 4 strips.  I was careful to match the pattern paper to keep the stripes even.

Here is a closer look at the delightful dragon with her newborn:

I printed the image with my Canon inkjet printer onto Copic Xpress Cardstock and coloured it in with Copic Markers. The Copics used are as follows: Dragon mother: B05, B04, B02, B01, B000, B0000 Baby dragon: V06, V05, V04, Egg shell: YR20, Y26, Y23, Y21, G46, G43  Nest: E55, E53, E51, E50

I saw this idea over at Splitcoast Stampers and really liked the way the card could be closed flat for posting, but when it opened, it gave a 3D effect. I changed the size of my card and made the base card taller. Here is the card from the side showing you the depth.

ABC Challenge - S is for Shabby Chic

Time for another fun challenge at ABC Challenges today. This time we are up to S is for Shabby Chic. Our sponsor for today's challenge are Live and Love Crafts. Here is my card.

For my card  I printed my image on Kryogen card stock and then coloured it with my copics. Then I cut around the image using Stampin' Up Oval framelits and mounted it on Nestabilities Floral Oval that I sponged with blushing bride and Sahara sand inks.

The Copic colours I used are:  skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20, hair:E37, E33, E31, dress and bow:R0000, R81, R83, R85 picnic basket: B0000, B91, B93, G20, G82, YG23, YG25, YR0000, YR21, YR24, Y26, Y23, Y21, E55, E53.

I used a Martha Stewarts around the page punch to create a border on my base card, and layered it with papers, lace and a pretty butterfly die cut from my stash.

I then added a bouquet of beautiful flowers, tied with a pink seam binding and added a charm.  Here is a closer look at this delightful Tilda from the new Pink Lemonade collection, Summer Buzz Tilda:
